CIVINTEC Self-Service Library Access Control for Smarter Entry and Security Management Self-service libraries extend access to reading and study spaces beyond staffed hours, creating a need for reliable entry control and remote management.
CIVINTEC's self-service library access control solution accommodates different authentication needs while enabling remote administration and security monitoring. Authorized readers enjoy greater freedom to access library spaces, while administrators maintain oversight of entry activity without being physically present.

RFID Cards: For regular library readers, compatible library cards offer a familiar way to enter the library. Support for 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz RFID technologies gives libraries greater scope to retain compatible credentials within their existing access control systems.
QR Code: QR codes provide a convenient access option for temporary visitors and study room users who do not need a permanent access card. By assigning time-limited access permissions, libraries can simplify temporary entry without distributing and collecting physical cards.
NFC/BLE Mobile Credentials: Compatible smartphones serve as digital credentials for readers and staff, providing another way to authenticate at library entrances. This gives libraries greater flexibility in accommodating users with different credential preferences.
Facial Recognition: For libraries seeking touchless entry, CIVINTEC facial recognition incorporates built-in liveness detection to help resist photo and video spoofing. It also accommodates common appearance changes, such as makeup and accessories, supporting reliable recognition while helping reduce the risk of unauthorized access through identity impersonation.
PIN Code: PIN code authentication provides an additional option for controlled access, serving as either a standalone entry method or a second layer in multi-factor authentication.
With Ethernet (PoE) and Wi-Fi connectivity, CIVINTEC terminals connect to compatible cloud management platforms, enabling administrators to update access permissions and review entry records remotely.
During network interruptions, CIVINTEC access control terminals operating in local mode retain locally stored permissions and access events, allowing credential verification to continue and records to remain available for review.
CIVINTEV access control terminals equipped with an autofocus camera and LED flash capture images when users present RFID cards or QR codes, linking each image to relevant access details, such as user information, card ID, terminal ID, and timestamp.
These visual records give administrators additional context when reviewing access events or investigating reported incidents.
CIVINTEC supports MIFARE® DESFire® EV2/EV3 credentials with AES-128 authentication, while optional SAM support helps protect encryption keys. HTTPS communication further safeguards data exchanged between terminals and management systems.
Beyond credential and communication security, tamper detection helps protect unattended entry points from physical interference. When tampering is detected, CIVINTEC access control terminals trigger an audible alarm and send SMS notifications to administrators, enabling a prompt response to potential security incidents.
