Overview
Commercial aviation hubs and international airports operate under strict security requirements while handling a high volume of daily access activities. Access control needs to support the movement of authorized personnel, protect restricted operations, and maintain appropriate security levels without disrupting normal airport activities.
Effective airport access control therefore requires more than basic entry authorization. Permissions need to be clearly managed according to user roles and operational requirements, while access records and security events remain available for timely monitoring and review.
CIVINTEC provides an access control solution designed to meet the security and operational needs of modern airports, supporting effective access management and reliable daily operations.
CIVINTEC access control terminals support TCP/IP, LoRaWAN, Wi-Fi, and 4G connectivity, providing reliable network options for deployment across the airport.
Connected to a centralized cloud management platform, security teams can manage access control terminals and user permissions across multiple areas from one system. Access activity and device status are synchronized with the platform in real time, giving administrators a clear view of access control operations and allowing them to respond promptly when security events occur.
Through HTTP/HTTPS communication, the system supports remote permission management, temporary authorization, and remote door unlock. OTA firmware and software updates can also be deployed across the network, reducing the need for on-site maintenance.
Access requirements within an airport vary according to each user' s responsibilities and level of authorization. CIVINTEC supports role-based access control, allowing permissions to be defined by authorized areas, valid time periods, and authentication requirements.
Facial Recognition: CIVINTEC access control terminal integrates a high-performance edge computing facial recognition engine that completes recognition in 0.015 seconds. It supports liveness detection to prevent photo or video spoofing attacks while providing contactless entry for selected high-traffic areas.
Smart RFID Cards: RFID cards are suitable for employees, ground handlers, and long-term contractors who need regular access. CIVINTEC terminals support 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz cards, including MIFARE Classic, MIFARE Plus, and DESFire EV1/EV2/EV3. Credential data is protected with 128-bit AES encryption, with an optional EAL5+ SAM module for added credential security.
NFC/BLE Mobile Credentials: Maintenance technicians and mobile teams may need to move between multiple doors and zones. CIVINTEC supports NFC/BLE mobile credentials on smartphones, providing mobile access while maintaining the same permission management and access records as other credential methods. Administrators can adjust the range so technicians can unlock a service door without taking out their phone, while keeping the same audit trail and permission control as card users.
QR Codes: Airports may need to provide temporary access for visitors, auditors, and temporary contractors. CIVINTEC supports encrypted, time-limited QR code credentials that can be assigned to specific access permissions. After the authorized time window ends, the temporary credential can expire automatically.
PIN Codes: CIVINTEC supports PIN code entry, which can be assigned to individual users or shared by a small team for specific doors. They can serve as an alternative when a card or phone is not available, while each PIN entry is recorded and sent to the cloud platform for access review.
Automatic Event Photo Snapshots: For terminals equipped with cameras, access events can be accompanied by photo records. When a user scans a QR code or presents a card, the CIVINTEC access control terminal automatically captures a photo of the person in front of the device, associating the image with the user, timestamp, and device ID before transmitting it to the client’s cloud system. These visual image logs provide unalterable, legally binding evidence for incident investigation, dispute resolution, and insurance claims.
Offline Access Control: CIVINTEC access control terminals store encrypted user permissions locally, allowing them to continue verifying credentials and granting authorized access when the network connection is interrupted, without relying on a continuous connection to the cloud platform.
Once the network connection is restored, locally stored access events can be synchronized with the management platform, helping maintain complete access records.
